Professor
In 1996, Doretta Miller, Robert Davidson Professor in Art, was a visiting professor of Western-Style Oil Painting at Qufu Teachers’ University in China. Her current work, featured at First Street Gallery in New York, consists of a series of gouache paintings inspired by her experiences in the People’s Republic of China, reflecting common life with insights into cultural and economic changes brought about by globalism. Two of Miller's China Series paintings were acquired for the permanent collection at the Albany Institute of History and Art.
In 2003 Miller was Faculty Curator at the Tang Teaching Museum for the exhibition “Brushing the Present: Contemporary Academy Painting from China". She attended Ripon College and received her Doctorate in Education and MFA degrees from Northern Illinois University. She teaches courses in drawing, painting, and art education for the department.
